The first ever Macmillan Coffee Morning happened in 1990. It was a small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their hot drink to Macmillan in the process. The first Morning was such an effective fundraiser that Macmillan arranged another one for the following year. Since then, Coffee Mornings have raised over £200 million for Macmillan.

Over the past five years, Audrey’s Fish Bar have raised £4000 for this cause. On Sunday, September 16th, they will be hosting their annual Coffee Morning for Macmillan from 10am until 12pm.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now
