MADAM, As Head of History at Altrincham Girls Grammar School I am currently carrying out research on local politics in Victorian Manchester, and in particular on Abel Heywood, Mayor of Manchester in 1862-3 and 1876-7. I have discovered that his grandson, Colonel George Basil Heywood, lived in Ross-on-Wye at Caradoc Court in first part of the 20th century, and I am trying to trace the family to find out if they have any papers or artefacts relating to their ancestor.
