A HEREFORDSHIRE pumpkin patch has been named among the most dog-friendly places to visit this Halloween, according to a new study.

The Pumpkin Patch at New House Farm secured fifth place in a regional ranking compiled by pet food company Fish4Dogs, which examined attractions welcoming four-legged visitors during the autumn season.

The study assessed pumpkin patches across the West Midlands based on admission prices, visitor reviews and the number of nearby dog-friendly restaurants and hotels.

New House Farm received an overall score of 6.4 out of ten, placing it alongside Ryman’s Pumpkins in Lichfield.

Visitors to the Herefordshire attraction can enjoy pumpkin picking, a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt, a play barn and opportunities to see farm animals.

Admission costs £5 per person, allowing visitors to remain at the farm throughout their visit, with additional food and drink stalls available onsite.

Top Barn Farm Park in Worcester and Churchfields Farm Pumpkin Festival in Droitwich shared first place, each achieving scores of 7.6.

Little Wytheford Farm in Shawbury finished third with 6.7, followed by Ryman’s Pumpkins and the Herefordshire attraction.

Ryan Whitman, dog expert at Fish4Dogs, said: “Dogs are family, so it’s no surprise dog owners want to bring them along to this season’s spooky festivities.”

He also encouraged owners to take care when sharing pumpkins with their pets, warning that raw pumpkin and its skin could cause digestive problems.

He explained that cooked pumpkin was a safer option, with its fibre content potentially supporting dogs’ digestive health.

The research comes as families across Herefordshire prepare for Halloween, with pumpkin picking becoming an increasingly popular autumn activity for children and pet owners alike.

The findings highlight opportunities for families seeking seasonal outings without leaving their dogs at home.
