Last week The High Sheriff of Herefordshire visited Ross-on-Wye Community Garden.

Joanna Hilditch who is appointed for the 12 months visited the garden in Old Gloucester Rd and met service users, volunteers and Tim Shelley the Project Leader. During the morning visit she was told about the Zero Waste Stall that hands out surplus food to anyone six mornings a week and since November, 13 tonnes of food have been saved from going into landfill.

Jo also met Adam Campbell, owner of Yat Pottery who was running a hand clay building workshop organised by Ross Community Development Trust. The High Sheriff also had a go with woodturning using a shaving horse and pole lathe. Finally, she met Ali Beynon who was a volunteer at the Talk Community Hub which started a couple of months ago. Ali shared the importance of the garden being open, a safe place for anyone to pop, to find out about local services and support throughout the county.

Tim Shelley, the Project Leader said: "We are absolutely delighted that the High Sheriff took time to visit the garden and to understand what the project is all about.

"We are hoping that many more people will access our free services and find out that this beautiful place is available to all."
