ARTHUR Snell, a former British diplomat, author and international affairs expert who has worked in numerous countries around the world is giving a book talk in Ross-on-Wye in March.

The author has a broad range of expertise and perspectives and will be in conversation with Rossiter Books’ bookseller Julie Hudson about his new book, Elemental: The Geopolitics of Climate Change.

From the water-stressed mountains of the Arabian Peninsula to the wildfires raging through America's most populated regions, the climate crisis is already affecting the lives of millions.

The author states that as natural disasters and increased scarcity shake the established world order to its core, Elemental reveals that an alternative future is still possible.

Could Africa power Europe with solar energy? Could we see an end to autocratic oil states? Could China's stranglehold on rare minerals make it the world's leading superpower?

Through four sections - Earth, Air, Fire and Water - Elemental blends reportage with analysis and interviews with key experts, policymakers and politicians, to reveal the turbulent future we face - and the choices we need to make to avert disaster.

The book has been described as an extraordinary mastery of geopolitics, combining years on the ground in the most challenging places.

Elemental will be published by Wildfire an imprint of Headline Publishing Group at the beginning of March ahead of the book talk and signing being held at St Mary’s Church in Ross on Thursday, March 26 at 7pm.

Tickets, priced at £8 are available from Rossiter Books 01989 564464 and via Ticketsource and rossiterbooks.co.uk or from the Rossiter Books in the High Street.

A sum of £3 of the ticket price is redeemable against the book at the event.

The book talk is a joint event between Rossiter Books and The Friends of St Mary's Church.
