MADAM, I want to take this opportunity of saying a huge thank you to all those involved in the recent fund raising efforts in the shop in Gloucester Road, which raised the magnificent sum of £34,364:48.

Iris Price has been a superb example of someone who has given so much to the local community. She and her team of helpers and volunteers should be congratulated on their excellent work in raising greatly-needed funds for the following: X-entricity, Playgroup, Jumpstart, Weston under Penyard School, Help for Heroes, Larruperz Centre, Macmillan, Goodrich School, Weston under Penyard pre school, Ross Lions, Weston under Penyard Village Hall and Church, Mayor's Project SSAFA, Inner Wheel, Ashfield Park School, MS Society, Muscular Dystrophy Group, The Haven, Tudorville and District Community Centre, Bridstow Guides, Phoenix Majorettes.

Iris has led the team, organised the volunteers, sorted out the book-keeping to name but a few of the numerous tasks involved in fund-raising. A magnificent effort for which she deserves all our thanks.

What I have realised over many years is the wonderful support given by local people and organisations in terms of volunteering in our town and community and I take this opportunity to thank all of those involved. It is greatly appreciated.
