Hundreds of mourners packed the church of St Lawrence, at Weston under Penyard, for the funeral of Jade Smith on Thursday, April 12th.

Jade’s close-knit family and many friends filled the pews. Jade, who lived in the area all her life, and attended Weston under Penyard School and John Kyrle High School was a much-loved young woman.

Many of those at the funeral were visibly moved by the tributes from her sister, cousin and parents, as well as the music which was played during the service, which was led by Reverend Robin Noble.

The white coffin, topped by an arrangement of pink roses, arrived at the church in a horse drawn carriage, and was carried in to the church while Sign Of The Times by Harry Styles played. During the service the congregation listened to Let Her Go by Passenger and the closing music was Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars.

18-year-old Jade died following a collision on the A40 between Weston under Penyard and Ross-on-Wye on March 19th.
