Madam, I would like to express my gratitude to all the speakers at a meeting for Carers at the Ryefield Centre on September 5th. They included the representatives from Age Concern, the Department for Mental Health in Older People, the Herefordshire Care Department and the Esme Fairburn Trust, who gave extremely informative talks on the practical support for those who care for relatives with dementia and for parents caring for children with disabilities.
My sister and I have cared for my mother who has dementia, for many years, and thanks to all the speakers, we now have far more information on the support that is available.
I would also like to thank Diane Lancaster and all her colleagues from the Patient Participation Group, affiliated to Alton Street Surgery for organising this excellent meeting, which I am sure benefited and supported all who attended.
