Town and County Councillor Richard Mayo told the members of Ross-on-Wye Town Council meeting on Monday, October 10th that he hoped to have good news to report to the town in November regarding Model Farm.
He said that the much anticipated Model Farm development could finally be given the green light with funding from central government. He told the meeting that he had been in regular contact with Councillor Harlow, Cabinet Member Economy & Corporate Services, and MP Jesse Norman. He said they would be writing to the Chancellor of the Exchequer stressing the importance of the investment to the whole of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
After the meeting, Councillor Mayo told the Ross Gazette that the three Ross county councillors, Cllr Hyde, Cllr Cutter and Cllr Mayo are working together to try to ensure the town gets this much over due investment. Councillor Cutter said:?“KPMG have highlighted the Model Farm development as the best site for government investment in the three counties so we are very hopeful that in the autumn statement the chancellor will announce a muti million pound investment in the site.
Councillor Mayo added:?“As a group we have written directly to our MP Jesse Norman and to the Chancellor of the Exchequer to emphasise the importance of this investment in south Herefordshire.”
“Although the public might not realise it lots has been going on behind the scenes to try and get this site operational and creating much needed jobs and opportunity for the people of Ross,” said Cllr Hyde.
Following a recent meeting with the three County Councillors, Cabinet Member Cllr David Harlow said that identifying priority projects that can improve conditions for economic growth, such as the Model Farm project in Ross is a key part of our economic plan.
He said:?“Our aim is that the Model Farm development will attract outside businesses, encourage local business start-ups and contribute to an increase in the average wage.”
