At the Meeting of Ross Town Council on Monday, Councillor Atkinson said that in his ward a lot of the potholes have been filled and "we are far from where we were in the winter", although there are still plenty to do. He went on to say that repair works seem to have slowed down a bit and he will be looking into this but urged anyone concerned about potholes to continue to report them to Herefordshire Council as logging the work is what ensures it gets done.

Cllr Atkinson has asked us to make it clear that he did not say that the roads are in perfect condition. Our understanding of what he said at the Ross Town Council meeting on Monday, June 10th was that Amey had caught up with a huge backlog but there is still more to do if people report it.

One such case is a 15 foot stretch of road before the bridge over the dual carriageway on Brampton Road in Ross, just after Brampton Abbotts School. It appears to have cracked and given way in two places creating divot-like potholes. One of them is considerably deeper than the other. The holes have been filling up with foul smelling sewage water and then suddenly draining away again.

Anyone concerned about a pothole on a road managed by Herefordshire Council should telephone 01432 261800 or email: [email protected]">[email protected]

When reporting a pothole try to provide a good location - street name, road number and any landmarks. Provide as much information as possible that will help the inspector find the pothole you are reporting

According to the Council's website the works will be logged for inspection within a 28 day time frame and then, if appropriate, added to a schedule of works.
