JKHS is having a most successful season, 17 athletes have qualified to represent Hereford District at the County Athletics Championships held at Nunnery Wood, Worcester.
Top spot went to Dan Maisey (pictured with Nigel Griffiths), who gained a silver medal in the junior boys shot. His throw of 10m 80cms in his first outing to the County Championships was enough to earn himself a place at the prestigious Mason Trophy Competition, also beating the school record in the process. His brother James Maisey also medalled in the intermediate boys shot, gaining a bronze with a throw of 10m 88cms. Danni Ward finished in third place in the intermediate girls discus with a throw of 22m 75cms, close to her personal best.
In the junior boys long jump, Alex Iles also took bronze with a jump of 5m 28cms. In the junior girls high jump Amber Probyn leapt a personal best of 1m 40cms to come joint third.
Andy Evans took six seconds off his personal best in the junior boys 1500m, running 4mins 54 secs to break the school record which has stood since 1982. Also claiming personal bests were Ali Hartland, in the intermediate girls triple jump, with a jump of 8m 48cms and Abi Orton, in the junior girls javelin, with a throw of 19m 54cms.
