The King Charles II pub in Ross-on-Wye town centre has been taken on by new owners, and is set to re-open next weekend.

Martyn and Jenny Clemson, who also run the Horse and Jockey, have taken on the King Charles recently, and are currently working very hard to make sure it is ready for the grand-reopening. They will open on Friday, December 18th, as a trial run, to make sure everything is ready for the big launch party on Saturday, December 19th.

Martyn told the Ross Gazette, "We will be re-opening as a proper pub. The builders started today (Wednesday, December 9th), they weren’t originally going to start until next week, but when we said we wanted to open by next weekend, they decided to start today."

Jenny told the Gazette that the two pubs will have distinctly different feels, the Horse and Jockey is more of a sports pub, and the King Charles, they hope, will have a mature feel to it. "We want it to be a really nice place, where customers can sit down and relax. We'll be having sofas, tables and chairs," Jenny said. "We want to make it cosy, warm and inviting."
