MEMBERS of the Ross-on-Wye Walkers are Welcome steering group are organising a two day Walking Festival in Ross. This will take place over the weekend of October 3rd and 4th and will coincide with the launch of Ross as a Walkers are Welcome town.

The Committee hopes to organise eight walks of varying lengths and difficulty over the two days of the Festival. It is hoped that the Festival will bring many walkers into the town; an exciting prospect.

The Walkers are Welcome group has approved a set of Officers and a Constitution and is moving rapidly towards the aim of getting Ross accredited as a Walkers are Welcome town. At its recent meeting the Committee confirmed Sam Phillips as Chairman, Judy Baugh as Secretary and David Collin as Treasurer. Other Committee members are Vince Playdon, of Herefordshire Council's Rights of Way Department, Clare O'Reilly from Tourism Herefordshire, John Edwards, of Ross Town Council, Heather Webster, Sally Northcott and Lesley Ward.
