The 5000th learner to walk thorough the doors of the Adult Learning Centre at John Kyrle High School since it opened in February 2006 was Alison Fletcher.

Alison, who had enrolled on a European Computer Driving Licence course, was delighted to be presented with a bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion by Head of the Adult Learning Centre, Paul Mason with Headteacher Nigel Griffiths, Finance Director, John Docherty and School Governor Joyce Thomas, MBE.

Mr Mason said he was absolutely delighted that so many adult learners attended the centre at John Kyrle to participate in the wide range of courses on offer. He also paid tribute to the staff and learners in making the centre a leading provider of adult learning in the area.

Mr Griffiths added that the success of the Adult Learning Centre, together with the use of the school's sports facilities in the evenings, was indicative of John Kyrle being at the heart of its community.

Mrs Thomas added:?"This is a first class facility for people to attend evening courses which are varied and interesting. I attended to learn how to use my computer. It was a wonderful course.

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank the school, Paul Mason and all the staff involved in delivering a very high quality provision for the community."
