The sister of a Ross man who was seriously injured in a traffic accident in November 2013, Yana Hill, ran the Big Dipper 10k run to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance, who helped save her brother, Leon's, life after the accident.

The run raised a total of £500 for the charity, and Yana presented the cheque at the Dean Neurological Centre in Gloucester, where Leon has been living since the accident.

Yana told the Ross Gazette: "As a family we would like to say thank you [to the Air Ambulance] and we will always be grateful to them.

"Also as a family we would like to say a big thank you to each and every person who has helped and supported us over the last year and donated to Leon's fund to help get the right equipment for when he is able to return home.

"It means a lot to us all."

Leon was seriously injured last year during his usual bide ride to work, and in the summer two cyclists went on an epic John O'Groats to Lands End cycle ride to raise money for a specialist bed and electric wheelchair for Leon.
