Dear Editor
Planning applications for change of use from public houses to domestic structures are rarely approved as councils regard pubs as essential local amenities.
The amenities offered by The Chase Hotel are infinitely greater than any supplied by pubs and it is to be hoped that this application for change of use will be rejected.
The Chase Hotel is the only large venue in Ross-on-Wye where important events can be held with many meetings, conferences, fairs and balls held there.
The open space around the building also gives the people of Ross-on-Wye some respite from air and light pollution.
The number of new residences that are proposed will add to these local problems.
More effort should be put into making the hotel and restaurant successful rather than closing The Chase Hotel down. This will be an incalculable loss to Ross-on-Wye.
