Dear Editor,

I have been running a cricket team, the V&A CC, for nearly 50 years and for the first time we are touring Herefordshire. I founded the team when I was at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

We play every week on an idyllic ground, Stonor, outside Henley-on-Thames, opposite a deer park owned by Lord Camoys. We are a mixed bunch of mostly arty types, but have a few virile younger ones who do the running.

We are staying near Ross-on-Wye and have a game against the town on Sunday, May 26th next year, but are desperate to have a game on Saturday, May 25th, against a local side. Otherwise my lot will just drink and loaf and will be useless for the Sunday game. If anyone has a ground and a vacant fixture would they please get in touch with me at [email protected]. I should add that we are good at losing gracefully.
