Dear Editor
We hope that 2019 will be of continued success for you, and all of the team at the Ross Gazette.
I expect that you have had masses of responses to the Brampton Abbotts school photo published in the Gazette’s Rewind page.
We have a copy in our family album as the Headteacher is my husband, Mr Brian Auty.
It was 1981 we think, which was the Golden Jubilee year for the Guide Dog Association and Colin Shepherd was presenting Maria Tingle and Naomi Davies with the award and the cheque for their collection for the best average, 3.34kg per pupil, during a collection of silver paper from all the rural Herefordshire schools.
The total amount collected in Herefordshire was 2,692.34 kg and this made £815 which was enough to train and one and a half guide dogs. The city school winner was St Martins in Hereford.
Many thanks for all your support to us here at Ross Court.

Dear Editor
The picture in last week’s Ross Gazette on page 16 is Brampton Abbott’s primary school. I am not sure what the presentation was but it looks like Colin Shepherd. Mr Auty was the headmaster who is sat far left and I’m stood in the front row, to the right of the girl holding the trophy. The school used to be adjacent to the church in the village.
