A Facebook page has been set up by Ross-on-Wye teenager, Charlii Barton, to help organise a Pride event for the town.
Pride parades are outdoor events celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer social and self acceptance, achievements, legal rights and pride.
Charlii told the Ross Gazette that the organisers are hoping to put it on in August, 2019. They are planning on having performances throughout the day, exclusively from members of the LGBT+ community. Charlii said: “So far all that’s left to do is confirm a date and the venue.”
Some people were critical of the idea, while others came out in support of a Ross-on-Wye Pride.
Councillor Hannah Lerego described the efforts as ‘brilliant’ and said: “Good luck. I think it’s fabulous.”The official page can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/prideross/?hc_location=ufiSee this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
