Members of the library support groups in Hereford, Leominster and Ross have written to Councillor Phillips at Herefordshire Council ahead of the Cabinet meeting on September 19th, when it is expected that options regarding the future of the Council's libraries will be discussed.
They have also written to local MPs and other news outlets.
The groups all acknowledge the financial problems the council faces. But they have come up with several suggestions which demonstrate that the libraries are a much valued, but underdeveloped, community resource which could flourish as hubs for a range of cultural and social activities.
They point to arrangements such as the new library, the Hive in Worcester, which has links to the university and say as there is a movement to set up a university in Herefordshire this is a possibility.
