Members of the Ross-on-Wye Community Litter Clean-up Crew (RCLCUC) were joined by local residents, including one five-year-old girl, to tackle the problem of litter around Ross-on-Wye on May 5th.
The team met at River View and spent almost two hours tackling areas in Brampton, Cawdor and Verschoyle. Despite the fact that this area has been covered twice in the last 12 months, the eight crew members managed to gather 13 bags of litter.
A spokesperson for the RCLCUC was pleased to say it had ‘all been removed from poisoning the environment’ and gave a big thanks to the crew who helped out. They said: “Bit by bit - we’re getting there.”
Wendy Salter, who leads the litter picks, told the Ross Gazette: “The RCLCUC is determined to help keep Ross looking clean and safe for all residents and visitors - we are a friendly bunch who welcome all ages and abilities to join us either occasionally or regularly - all equipment provided.
The team recently completed another litter picking event, which was the Pick ‘n Clean of the Town Trail and Woods, on Sunday, May 12th. As well as litter picking, they cleaned signs along the trail.
On Sunday 19th there will be a Superheroes fancy dress litter pick for children, meeting at Skate Park.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
