LLANGROVE CE Academy is celebrating the strengths of its school community following the latest Ofsted inspection, which recognised the school’s strong standards in attendance and behaviour, and personal development and wellbeing.
Government appointed Inspectors praised the village school’s warm, close-knit community where pupils feel safe, valued and included.
They highlighted pupils’ excellent behaviour, positive attitudes to learning and the school’s deeply embedded values, which encourage kindness, fairness, empathy and responsibility.
The inspectors visited lessons to look at pupils' work and the curriculum and to spoke with pupils about their learning and wider school activities.
The inspector’s report also recognised the school’s thoughtful pastoral care, strong relationships with families and commitment to ensuring every child can participate fully in school life.
The inspectors state that Llangrove pupils benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum, purposeful teaching and opportunities to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Matt Fletcher, the lead inspector said: “Pupils enjoy their learning. They listen carefully, take part enthusiastically in discussions and respond confidently using the vocabulary and sentence stems taught by staff.
“They benefit from a well‐sequenced curriculum that helps them build knowledge securely over time.
“School leaders have established a clear vision that shapes the culture of the school and supports pupils’ day‐to‐day experiences.
“They know the school well and have an accurate understanding of its strengths and the areas that require further work.
“Their priorities are rooted in the school’s context, including strengthening outcomes in mathematics and embedding the use of assessment to analyse trends and evaluate the impact of interventions.”
Mr Fletcher observed that the school’s governance has developed well since the previous inspection and that trustees receive detailed information through the headteacher’s comprehensive reports.
He also witnessed that school leaders engage positively with parents and the wider community and that its communication was clear and timely.
“This strengthens the inclusive and supportive culture across the school,” he added.
Sarah Dean the school’s headteacher said: “We are particularly proud that inspectors saw our strong values shine through in conversations with pupils, teachers, parents and members of the local community.
“Their feedback reflects the caring, supportive environment we work hard to create every day, where children are known as individuals and encouraged to flourish.
The report describes the school as being an environment where pupils enjoy going to school and that they trust the adults around them and together they feel a strong sense of belonging.
“While we continue to build on our strengths and develop our provision further, we are delighted that the inspection has recognised the positive culture at the heart of Llangrove CE Academy,” added Ms Dean.
Following recent renovations to its nursery provision, the school has announced that, from January next year it will be offering early years provision, welcoming children from the age of two years old.
This exciting new class will be known as Little Acorns and will provide a nurturing, stimulating and educational environment in which our youngest children can learn, play and thrive.
