A local resident, Bertie Comerford, sent the Ross Gazette a cheque for £1,000, and asked us to pass it on to the Ross-on-Wye Community First Responders (CFRs).

Pictured right is the editor, Jo Scrivin, handing the donation to Tom Dudziec, the Ross CFR Co-ordinator.

In his letter explaining his reasons for making the donation to the Ross CFRs, Mr Comerford said: "My dear wife, Ruth alas now deceased, and I have good reason to be grateful to the Ross-on-Wye Community First Responders.

"When they have come to our aid, they have always been prompt, efficient, cheerful, kind and re-assuring, and we were very grateful to them.

"You have suggested that donations would be welcome electronically, which I am unable to do, so I enclose a cheque, let us say, ’In memory of my wife,’ and request that you should pass it on to them - Thank You."
