LOCAL volunteers have given a local street sign a much-needed makeover, brightening up the area for passersby.

Sandra Brown, who had previously cleared overgrown vegetation around the sign and prepared it for re-colouring, was delighted to spot the completed work last week.

She had reported the issue via the FixMyStreet service in September, but the refurbishment appears to have been carried out by local residents or community volunteers rather than the council.

Sandra praised the effort, saying it was “great to see it loved again” and celebrated the community spirit that keeps the town looking cared for.

The project is part of a growing trend of residents taking pride in their surroundings, going beyond litter-picking to actively improve local streets.
