Dear Editor,
I read with interest the letters to the Editor in your paper as it reflects what a cross section of the community think of the town and its environs.
Two letters struck me this week, one saying what a lovely place Ross is, and the other from a shopkeeper complaining about comments in the previous week’s editorial.
Now Ross is a lovely place to live in as is the surrounding countryside, however I do feel that the shopkeepers are missing a trick especially as it is an area much visited by people on holiday. When we shop in Ross it is very noticeable that many of the shops are not open by nine o’clock, and some even find it difficult to open by ten in the morning.
Now for those who shop early like ourselves, we are finished before many of these shops open and have no choice very often other than go to Gloucester or Hereford for the items we could buy in Ross. So I would suggest that if you want to keep locals and visitors spending their money in the town that the shop keepers make the attempt to open at a reasonable hour.
