Last Wednesday, June 18th, traffic was held up at the Wilton roundabout from approximately 6am when a lorry carrying building supplies turned over as it left the roundabout, heading towards Monmouth.

The lorry shed part of its load and the remainder had to be unloaded by hand and reloaded onto another lorry. This meant that one lane was closed for most of the day and long queues of traffic built up.

The road was then completely closed for a time in the afternoon to allow the lorry to be set upright.

The following day another lorry also overturned, this time after it left the A40 at the Glewstone turning and was driving along a narrow lane, the A4137.

The lorry drove up onto a bank and then overturned. The driver was transporting a precious cargo of Chilean kiwi fruit from Spalding to a local cold store. The load, which weighed about 20,000 tonnes was worth about £35,000.

The load had to be removed by hand and transported to the nearby cold store, to ensure it was kept at the correct temperature, before the vehicle could be lifted up.
