Colin Lanfear, who lives near Lydney, is a Magician and Family Entertainer, who in May 2018, will begin his journey to cycle around the coast of Britain. His focus is to perform Magic Shows, raising awareness and money for a Farm4Life project in Ghana.

Colin, 49, aims to cycle 3,300 miles around the coast of Britain, performing his magic show at various locations, and he hopes to raise £15,000 to help build the Adoley Centre.

The Adoley Centre is a place where families and those with disabilities receive initial support. The centre will also oversee the welfare arm of the charity. Farm4Life works to build a greater future for the people of Ghana.

Colin told the Ross Gazette: “I enjoy cycling very much and annually my friend and I talked about cycling from Lands End to John O’ Groats. It however remained just that, talk. Until now.

“There was then a number of deaths close to my family and that prompted me to think we are not guaranteed next month, let alone next year. So if you want to do something, now is the time. I have been, for a year or two, wanting to fulfil certain goals and ambitions, and then this bike ride became one such goal.

“Another reason was that my wife and her brother and sister in-law run a small charity which helps communities in Ghana and there is a project where money is being raised to finish a multi function building, and £15,000 will complete the project. I?want to raise this.”

“My passion in life is people and I desire to inspire, encourage and help whoever I meet. The combination of biking, busking and building seems a very strong reason to do this. If you want to do anything in life, putting it off will not make it happen.”

Colin added: “I first came into contact with a specific magician about eight years ago. Eric Sharp was a Magician and P&J performer who for many years worked Punch and Judy on the Beach at Porthcawl. He mentored and helped me to get a Magic and P&J show together. Eric was in his late 80s when I met him. Now deceased, aged 94, he gave me the magic routines which made him a successful Children’s Entertainer throughout the 60s to the 90s.

“For the last four years I’ve been a semi- professional children’s entertainer. At the beginning of 2017 I met another performer called Mario Morris from Cardiff who is a Magician and street entertainer. He runs ’The School of Busking’ and has helped me for the last one and a half years to progress as a performer and I have developed into a Family Entertainer and now have a Street Show ready to Busk on the streets of towns and cities.”
