Herefordshire residents can now check when their areas are scheduled for grass cutting services by visiting the council's website. The cutting schedule and guide can be accessed at http://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/grass-cutting">www.herefordshire.gov.uk/grass-cutting.

,br>As part of cost cutting moves grass cutting frequencies have reduced from a typical frequency of seven times per year to three, with many rural verges staying untouched other than safety cuts to visibility splays.

,br>However the Deputy Mayor of Ross, Councillor Chris Bartrum, is hoping that, following several informal meetings with Balfour Beatty, he will be able to organise a meeting with fellow Councillors to re-prioritise grass cutting in Ross.

,br>He said some areas will be cut in March, June and September, but he believes that some of the areas scheduled for more frequent cuts due to safety issues are not necessary.

,br>He told the Gazette:?"If we can save cutting in one place to do somewhere else more often, we should consider it, especially play areas and football pitches."

,br>He is hoping that he will be able to encourage the Town Councillors to work together to come up with suggestions for new priorities.

,br>Cllr Bartrum was speaking to the Amenities Committee and the Policy and Management Committee this week. He said that the Town Council will also be asking for tenders from those interested in taking on grass cutting in the areas included with the Asset Transfers.
