Dear Editor,
On Saturday, May 7th the Marches Military Wives Choir are coming to Ross-on-Wye they will be joined by local Primary school children.
Everyone knows the story of the Choir – how it started with a television series with Gareth Malone – I do not think even he expected what happened next. The aim was to help wives and girlfriends of Servicemen who were deployed in Afghanistan to express themselves through song. It gave them an opportunity to make new friends, connect with local communities, learn new skills and generally have fun times within a supportive environment. Families in service move around frequently and it can be tough to put down roots, make new friends and get to know people in the local community – the choirs have made such a difference by coming together to sing they immediately have a support network from others in the same position.
There are now over 75 choirs and the Military Wives Choir Foundation founded in 2011 supports women in the British military community, and we are so lucky to have one here in Herefordshire.
We are asking the good people of Ross-on-Wye to come along and give your support, not only to the choir, but to everyone who has served their Country. All profits will go towards the welfare of past and present service men and women.
The concert will take place at the Larruperz Centre at 7pm. Tickets £10 To book please ring 01989 566301.
Tickets will also be available in our Charity Shop in Gloucester Road which opens on Saturday, April 9th.
