The Forest of Dean Morris Men will be holding their 45th Family Morris Weekend during the weekend of June 11th and 12th and there will be plenty of opportunities to see a variety of different Morris sides dancing at local pubs.
Dance sides from all over the country will start to gather at Soudley on Friday evening. This year’s attendees are The Forest of Dean Morris Men, Leeds Morris, Clocs Canton (from Cardiff), Full Moon Morris, Mersey Morris, Leicester Morris, Lady Bay Revellers from Nottinghamshire, Cardiff Morris and Southport Swords.
On Saturday morning there will be a mass dance at Coleford Clock Tower at 10am. The sides then split into three seperate tours:
A. 11:30am at The Rising Sun, Moseley Green; 12:30pm at The Miners Arms, Whitecroft; 2:30pm at The Dilke Hospital Fete; 3:30pm at The White Hart, Broadoak and 4:30pm at The Hillside Brewery
B. 11:45am at The Three Tuns, Chepstow; 1pm at The Anchor, Tintern; 3pm at The Sloop, Llandogo; 4pm at The Boat, Penallt
C. 11:45am at The Gatehouse, Monmouth; 1pm at The Moon at Garway; 2:45pm at The New Harp, Hoarwithy; 4pm at The Yew Tree, Peterstow
On Sunday morning there will be a mass dance at The Dean Heritage Centre, Soudley at 10:30am until noon followed by some dancing at The White Horse Inn, Soudley until about 1pm. Then the sides will disperse and return back home.
