A TOWN mayor is already getting in the festive mood by launching his Christmas card competition.

Cllr John Winder, the mayor of Ross-on-Wye, is calling on the town’s youngsters to put their thinking caps on and design a card for him to send to neighbouring towns, local groups, friends and family.

A town council spokesperson said: "The competition is open to anyone under the age of 16, with prizes for first, second and third place.

"The overall winner will have their design used as the Mayor’s Christmas Card for this year. The design must include an element of Ross-on-Wye.

"The closing date for entries is Thursday, November 4, at midnight. The winner will be selected by the mayor on Friday, November 5.

"The Christmas cards will also be available for sale during November and December in packs of five at £5 per pack, with all profits going to the Mayor’s Charity, Enviroability."

The competition is open to under 16s only, and entrants must be residents of Ross-on-Wye or the surrounding area.

You should provide contact details, name, phone number, address and clearly state the category you are entering.

Entries can be posted to The Corn Exchange, High Street, Ross-on-Wye, HR9 5HL or a good quality photo of the design can be emailed to [email protected]

By submitting an entry, you agree to its use in any publicity associated with the competition.
