LAST year’s mayor of Ross-on-Wye raised over £5,000 for her chosen charity Home-Start Herefordshire.

Cllr Bev Pope raised £5,119.45 and said while it was her job to raise funds for the charity, it was also about getting the word out about what the organisation does in assisting families at home.

The main fundraisers included the mayor producing a leaflet featuring her favourite baking recipes and a promises auction.

At Monday’s presentation Kerry Postlewhite said that the funding will go a long way within the organisation and stated that recipients from Ross would be some of the beneficiaries. She added: “I think the mayor must have worked hard throughout her year in office to raise such a sum, which will make a difference.”
