The Mayor of Ross, Councillor John Edwards hit the first ball to start the annual Charity Golf competition at Ross Golf Club last Thursday. The day raised over £2,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Mayoress, Sue Edwards, who organised the day, said they were extremely lucky with the weather, the heavy rain forecast for the day came just after the hard-fought competition had ended.

She thanked the many local businesses and individuals who had sponsored holes and donated prizes. She was also grateful to Norman Davis and George Cason who acted as starters and the Ross Golf club and the caterers, Karen and Ian Needman, who provided a delicious buffet.

In addition to the £2,426 raised on the day around £400 further was due from the Just Giving website set up by Graham Stonadge.
