2017 has been an eventful year for Ross Town Council with much time being spent managing the assets transferred from Herefordshire Council and the acquisition of Homs Road car park.
The Events Committee continued to sponsor the highly popular Bands in the Park and the Christmas Fayre. It is unfortunate that the success of the Proms in August was marred by adverse weather in the evening, however the weather behaved for the Christmas Fayre and lights switch on in November when the streets were thronged with people.
It had been hoped that the Neighbourhood Plan would have by now been nearing completion. Melvin Reynolds must be thanked for his patience and perseverance as Chair of the Steering Group and 2018 should see this being completed.
The Town Council has continued to support many local organisations who contribute so much to the town with grants to facilitate their activities.
Particular mention should be made of the work of the Royal British Legion who will have another busy year in 2018 with the centenary of the end of WW1.
On behalf of the Town Council I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope that Ross-on-Wye has a prosperous New Year.
Cllr Nigel Gibbs
Mayor of Ross-on-Wye
