Madam, I am aware like the majority of people in Ross, that the clock is not working on the Market House. Oh how I miss it, especially the chimes to reassure me of the time. It also amazes me the number of times I actually look at it whilst I am in the town!

I was actually in the street by the Market House when the clock collapsed and the noise was horrendous and very frightening. I should imagine that anyone in the Heritage Centre at the time thought that the roof was falling in.

I have been to the Heritage Centre to speak to the manager who has assured me that it is all in hand to have it repaired but it will be a long and very expensive job. The clock needs to be taken away as some of the pieces that are broken have to be custom-made.

I understand there are numerous complaints daily to the Heritage Centre staff about it. Does no one read the notice on the Market House to explain why it is out of action.

I am looking forward to the clock working again but I am not moaning and groaning whilst it is not there. It will be all the better when it is fixed I am sure.

I also understand the hands were turned to 11 o'clock for Armistice Day to remember those who died in wars to make this a better place to live. Perhaps, whilst it is not working, when you look at the clock showing 11 o'clock, this is a chance to spare a few moments to think of those who are still sacrificing their lives in Afghanistan to make us safe, before complaining that the clock has stopped again.
