MADAM, The long overdue resurfacing of Walford Road is scheduled to commence on September 17th and completion is due on September 19th. Whilst I welcome the fact that the road is to be repaired I am not at all happy with how it is to be achieved. The following has been taken from the council's website; "Works are scheduled to start on Wednesday 17th, September, 2014 and are planned to finish by Friday, 19th September 2014. To minimise disruption, all works will start at 18.00 hours and finish at 12.00 midnight each day." Minimise disruption to who? The motorists, yes, the residents a very definite NO! I fully realise that disruption is inevitable when work of this nature is undertaken, but why is that it has to be the residents that will have to endure the noise and disruption etc up to midnight? Motorists can find alternative routes if need be, residents cannot up sticks and move away. Why can't the road be closed during the day to complete this work? Heaven forbid we upset the traffic, surely the work could be completed quicker if it was carried out during the day ie 8am to 6pm. I know that this will, as usual, fall on deaf ears within the council, and be treated with total disregard as is the norm.
