A NEW memorial tree has now been installed at a Ross-on-Wye Town Cemetery, providing families with a lasting and meaningful way to remember loved ones.
The Mulberry Tree is located on the roundabout at the Town Cemetery on Walford Avenue.
It offers an opportunity for people to create a personal tribute by dedicating a heart-shaped leaf in memory of someone special.
Made in the UK, the tree features a Corten steel trunk and branches, complemented by granite leaves. The steel is designed to naturally rust, creating a rugged, natural appearance that will continue to develop over several years, and create a stable, protective patina with bronze and copper tones, designed to resemble the texture and appearance of tree bark.
The granite leaves add colour and shape, bringing the tree to life.
The metallic tree measures approximately six feet by six feet tree and comes with 240 blank, heart-shaped leaves, each of which can be personalised with a loved one’s name, dates and a simple design.
Once inscribed, the personalised leaf replaces one of the original blank leaves, becoming a lasting tribute on the tree.
The Memorial Tree has been sponsored by Nigel Cave and Son Memorial Stone Masons and Niki Mills Independent Funeral Directors, whose support has helped bring this special addition to the cemetery to life.
The cemetery at Tudorville, which is owned and maintained by Ross Town Council, was opened in 1945 for full burials and interment of cremated remains.
The council’s management committee approved the funding of £11,540 to purchase the memorial tree. Councillors agreed the memorial tree would be a lovely addition to the town cemetery.
