Ross Rotary Club welcomed two new members at a recent Monday meeting. District Governor, Alan Hudson, inducted Andy Inkpen, sponsored by Ross Rotary President, Richard Williams, and Ian Benjamin, sponsored by Philip Dazeley, into Rotary by outlining the Objects of Rotary.

He paraphrased this as being the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; the promotion of high ethical standards in business and professions; the application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life; and the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through fellowship.

Alan went on to explain that based on the Object of Rotary, there are Five Avenues of Service which are Rotary’s philosophical cornerstone and the foundation on which club activity is based. He listed these as being Community Service, International Service, Youth Service, Vocational Service and Club Service.

Alan then warmly welcomed Andy and Ian into Rotary and told them about the Four Way Test by which Rotarians measure their actions, namely; Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Andy, previously a member of Chippenham Rotary Club, said he was delighted to be accepted as a member and looked forward to being an active participant in the club.

Ian was equally pleased to become a member of Ross Rotary Club and thanked members for their warm, friendly welcome.
