Whichever route visitors make their way into Ross-on-Wye they will not be far from one of the new Tourist Information Sites (TIS) located within eight existing businesses around the town. Whether tourists travel into Ross via the riverside, along Gloucester Road or Brookend Street they will be able to find a TIS set up by the the newly formed Ross-on-Wye Tourism Association (RTA).
Window posters will identify the eight locations within which visitors will find a town map, leaflets, information about where to go and what do to make the most enjoyable use of their time, as well as lists of accommodation locally. RTA spokesperson Yolande Watson told the Ross gazette they will also offer a friendly welcome, and local knowledge, such as which establishments are dog friendly.
“This is just the beginning of an intensive drive to increase visitor numbers and publicise just what a lovely place Ross-on-Wye is to visit and a perfect centre from where to explore the local area,” she says.
The eight locations are: Ross Information Service in Corn Exchange on High Street; Made in Ross (situated on the first floor of the Market House); Mandy Moo’s, 9 Cantilupe Road; Return to Splendour, Gloucester Road; Hope Treasures cafe next to the Hope and Anchor at the riverside; Raglan House Cafe and Guest House, 17 Broad Street; Little Chic Children’s Clothes and Toy Boutique, 30a Brookend Street and The House of Mole, 20 Brookend Street.
