A former Ross resident, Jonathan Down, who now lives in Canada, returned home for a recent visit, and his mother had saved an old photo, which was printed in the Ross Gazette in April 2016, which showed Class 1 at Ross County Primary School, in 1957.
Mike Ebert, who still lives in the area, had brought in the photo, and in April the Ross Gazette asked readers if they were able to identify anyone in the picture.
Jonathan was able to pick himself out, in the second row, third from the left. He added that he would have been five years old when the picture was taken.
Jonathan also recognised his friend, Kevin Pritchard in the centre of the photograph, and Denise Smith, who is situated in the front row, fourth from the right, but he was unable to recall any more names of his class mates.
He added that there had been two year groups that year, and he remembered his friend ‘Jane Gwatkin’, was in the other class, as she is absent from the photo.
When he was in school, Jonathan’s dad was the local police officer in Ross. After Jonathan finished Primary School, while most of his classmates attended Ross Grammar School, he went on to Monmouth School, and lost contact with many of them.
Jonathan now lives in Canada with his wife, Marie, and he would be delighted to hear from any of his former school friends. His email address [email protected].
