Dear Editor,
I write to thank everyone who visited a farm locally or further afield on Open Farm Sunday (June 10th). We had hundreds of visitors at Hopes Ash Farm and raised £1000 towards a defibrillator for Hope Mansell from the sale of refreshments.
At a time when social media is full of misleading horror stories of how our food is produced it was fantastic to welcome so many people to our farm so they could see for themselves the reality of UK food production. Whilst modern agriculture is not always the rural idyll we all dream of; in the UK it is highly regulated with world leading standards of animal welfare, traceability, technical advancements in sustainability and environmental sensitivity.
Best wishes and buy British.
Rachel Davies,
Hopes Ash Farm.
