Dear Editor,
May I tell you my story of parking at Morrisons.
I was on my way to work one morning last year and called in at Morrisons at 7:50 to pick up a paper I then continued to work and worked 8am until 5pm. About 6:30pm I returned to the store to do some shopping and left around 7:10pm.
Two weeks later I received a £85 fine with pictures of my car entering at 7:50am and leaving at 7:10pm.
Mysteriously the pictures of me leaving in the morning and re-entering in the evening had disappeared.
I tried to ring the company to explain their mistake but they are never wrong so their phone lines are only there for one thing to take your money. You cannot speak to a human being which tells you what sort of company they are.
Fortunately for me the company I work for has security cameras on the car park and it had filmed me arriving and leaving at the times that the parking company had said that I was parked at Morrisons
A helpful Morrisons manager did sort the problem out but I was prepared to go to court with my video evidence.
What would have happened if I had not gone to work but had returned home for the day? How would I disprove what they were saying?
Please be aware the car park company don’t do this for pleasure, they are there to make a profit and you are their means of doing this.
A question for Morrisons; if I pull in to the car park with a horse box or trailer on the back of my vehicles do I have to buy two tickets?
Morrisons in the past have made announcements with a big fanfare (new layout, match n more cards etc) why were they so quiet about this?
