A petition has been opened on website change.org calling on County Councillors to think again about their decision to keep any misconduct secret.
Currently, the identity and any details relating to misdemeanors committed by councillors or officers are not revealed to the public.
Herefordshire Council will continue to keep voters in the dark about any elected members found in breach of the authority’s code of conduct, if proposals to change its constitution stay as they are.
The people behind the petition think this is wrong and say: “Any misconduct they commit must be available for the public to view, so that we can make an informed decision about which councillor to vote for at the ballot boxes.”
Full council will have the final say on any changes to Herefordshire Council’s constitution on May 25th.
