THE inaugural Ross Gazette Photographic Competition was a huge success, with many colourful and thought-provoking entries from local youngsters. The Gazette was delighted to forge links with the Ross Photographic Society and with the prestigious Hereford Photography Festival.

It has taken some time to assemble the busy judges together. However, a few weeks a ago they gathered at the Gazette offices to select the winners for the under 11 and over 11 categories. The judges were: Alex Orr, representing the Ross Photographic Society, Keith Sharples, from Dragonfly Images, Jaime Jackson of the Hereford Photography Festival and the Gazette Editor, Jo Scrivin.

The Gazette is delighted to announce the winners as follows: Hereford Photography Festival winner – Brad Barnes, 14, who receives vouchers from Jessops courtesy of the Ross Photographic Society; runner up – Jade Jones, 16. Their photos will feature in this year's festival. Dragonfly Imaging Judge's Prize – James Dart, 17. James wins a hands-on photo session. Hannah Russell, 13, the overall over 11 winner and Megan Acton Jones, 10, the overall under 11 winner, receive cameras from Ross Kodak Shop and a printer each for their schools. The Gazette would like to thank the Judges and Ross Photographic Society, Ross Kodak Shop and Dragonfly Imaging, and Cartridge World@Logiplex in Ross for donating prizes.
