THE planned temporary road closure order for the B4260 Wilton Road in Ross-on-Wye during October has been postponed until next year.

The road closure was to allow for permanent stone and block barrier to be installed to replace the concrete and wire mesh structure that currently sits underneath the cliff face.

But because the project has only just been signed off by Herefordshire Council, there isn’t enough time for the supplier of the red sandstone to quarry and deliver to the site in time for the works planned to start in October.

It is understood that the new barrier will be of similar proportions to the current safety barrier and that drainage works will be undertaken at the same time as the road closure.
