Local artist and yoga teacher Amanda Hamilton is fulfilling her long term dream, and supporting her sister, by having dreadlocks created in her long hair.

Amanda was looking for a way to back her sister, Headteacher, Nicola Coupes who is planning a skydive to raise funds for her school, Burbage Primary School in Wiltshire.

Amanda briefly considered accompanying Nicola for the skydive but quickly realised it was not for her. Instead she hit upon the plan of fulfilling a long held ambition to have dreadlocks. Amanda told the Gazette: “I’m not brave enough to throw myself out of a plane, but wanted to do something to support her incredible courage and determination to not let her school suffer through the challenges of tight budgets.”

Amanda said: “I’m going to have a head full of dreads in support of a head full of dread – as Nicola’s not looking forward to it much.”

As Amanda and Nicola grew up in Ross-on-Wye, and attended St Joseph’s Roman Catholic School, Amanda is splitting her fundraising between the two schools.

Amanda has set up a justgiving page and has already received several donations.
