A PROPOSAL to return two buildings, currently used as an accountant’s office, back to two domestic homes, have been approved by Herefordshire planners.
Historically the buildings, on the corner of the High Street and St Mary’s Street in Ross-on-Wye had been two separate properties which have since being connected internally.
The High Street building is currently a commercial premises spread over four floors and a basement, while the property in St Mary’s Street is also a commercial three-storey property with separate basement.
Planning officer Chloe Allen-Hewitt said that the principle of the scheme was welcomed as it looks to provide a long-term use for the buildings.
She added: “However, the proposal would result in the loss of existing office accommodation. But the council’s own economic development team have confirmed that there is no commercial demand for premises of this scale and type within Ross.”
