Developers who were hoping to build a small group of residential properties with cesspits on a field at Orcop, near Ross-on-Wye, have appealed Herefordshire Council’s decision to reject the proposals.

Dozens of villagers and local residents had previously voiced their opposition and had described the plan to build three houses on land at Newcastle Farm as ‘swapping a beautiful countryside view for a repository of human waste’.

Council planners decided to reject the scheme after more than 40 people signed a petition against it. In addition to this, the parish council said that the development would be both unsustainable and detrimental to the character, environment, drainage, and local roads within the area.

Any views on the proposals must be submitted to Richard Mitchell – 3C, The Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BSl 6PN, by November 12th, 2018.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
