A planning application has been submitted to Herefordshire Councillors to administer alterations and extensions to flats in Wye Street, Ross-on-Wye.

The existing building is a block of four flats with garages underneath. The building was constructed in about 1970 and is said to be, by today’s standards, of low quality. One statement reads: “It is clearly detrimental to the character and appearance of the street scene of this attractive and much photographed area of Ross.”

The planning application proposes an extension to the front of the flats to add extra floor space with balconies, to take full advantage of the views towards the river.

It also details plans for a new rear entrance and staircase, proposed to serve all flats.

A separate application has been made with regards to existing trees on the site.

Councillors are aiming to have made their decision by Tuesday, January 29th, 2019. To view the application or to comment on the plans, visit the Herefordshire Council website and search the planning application using its number: P183381/F.
