The Barrel Inn on Brookend Street in Ross-on-Wye, could become a retail outlet after a planning application was lodged with Herefordshire Council recently. The pub, which is currently vacant, is proposed to be changed from a public house into a retail outlet.
The building has housed a retail outlet in the recent past, and has glass windows facing onto Brookend Street with a lobbied entrance door.
It is proposed to retain the present layout of the building, and there is no change proposed for access to the building, as there is already pedestrian access.
It also proposes to convert the Beer Garden to a goods yard, providing a loading and delivery area for vehicles, parking for retail staff, and a waste storage area.
In the application it states: “Local residents would promote this ‘Change of Use’ as it will reduce the possibility of future potential noise occuring in Brookend Street late in the evening.”
